Don't Confuse My Silence For Weakness, Nassir Warns Critics
Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has fired back at his critics, warning them not to confuse his silence for weakness.
Speaking in Kisauni during a pass-out exercise for ECDE teachers, Nassir labelled the critics as 'noisemakers, noting that he is unshaken by political 'noise'.
"When a leader is being attacked and remains silent it does not mean that they are weak. For a leader to take all that noise and attacks is a sign that the leader is strong, confident and has wisdom" said Nassir.
Adding" We will not move forward and achieve our development goals if we keep on focusing on all the noise out there"
Nassir alluded confidence of winning a second term.
"I served as an Mp for two terms, I'm now serving my first term as the governor and God willing I will win the next election and serve my second term"
"All those stones that they are throwing towards me, I will use them to build a castle"
KCB Golf Series Heads to Mombasa for its Second Leg.

Golfers will brave the lush green as early as 6:30 am for the morning tee action while the afternoon tee is scheduled to kick off at 12:30 pm.

Speaking about the event, Mombasa Sports Club Vice Captain George Mokaya said: “It is such an honor to be part of the KCB Golf series for the second year running. Last year, we had a successful tournament so we expect to replicate the same this year. We have many golfers who have already booked their slots for the weekend’s action. I am looking forward to a fruitful golf action.”
The top two teams from Saturday’s action will automatically book their places in the tour’s grand finale that is slated for December 5, 2025. The venue for this year’s grand finale will be announced ahead of the event.

“We firmly believe that we are playing a pivotal role in pushing the golf agenda. KCB’s efforts to expand the sport will see the bank host a juniors’ only golf clinic on Sunday and a tree planting exercise in a bid to strengthen environmental conservation initiatives through the golf series.

Kingi Urges Senators To Strengthen Devolution
Senate Speaker Amason Jeffah Kingi has urged Senators to take the lead in ensuring the success of devolution by enacting key legislation to support its implementation.
Speaking at the official opening of the Senate Midterm Retreat in Naivasha, Nakuru County, Speaker Kingi emphasized that Kenyans are relying on the Senate to realize the full potential of devolution.
He acknowledged the challenges that have hindered the process, including inadequate financing and delayed disbursement of funds, but commended Senators for their efforts in ensuring that Kenyans continue to benefit from devolved governance.
"This retreat is not just about reflection, it is about reaffirming our commitment to the successful implementation of devolution and improved governance in our county governments,” stated Speaker Kingi.
As the Senate prepares to begin its fourth session on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the Speaker urged lawmakers to remain focused and dedicated to their duties.
He particularly warned against absenteeism, which he noted has negatively impacted House proceedings in the past.
“Will we be remembered as a Senate that strengthened devolution, upheld accountability and championed the interests of counties or will we be remembered as a Senate that let opportunities slip away?” he challenged the lawmakers.
He further declared, “As part of our renewed commitment and dedication to making the 4th Session more impactful and rewarding, we must agree to slay the dragon of absenteeism, which as witnessed in the past sessions has so often denied the House the requisite quorum to conduct its business.”
Speaker Kingi reassured both the Senators and the Kenyan public of his steadfast commitment to his constitutional mandate promising to remain impartial and dedicated to the success of devolution.
"As Speaker of the Senate, I pledge my commitment to fostering unity, efficiency and progress in our work. The Senate’s success is Kenya’s success. The strength of devolution is the strength of our democracy,” he affirmed.
The retreat which began this Wednesday brings together all Senators and key stakeholders including representatives from the National Government, the County Assemblies Forum, the Council of Governors and the Commission on Revenue Allocation.
Moët & Chandon Returns As The Official Champagne For Formula 1
As Formula 1 and LVMH embark on a groundbreaking decade-long partnership, Moët & Chandon is thrilled to return as the sport’s Official Champagne.
With over 280 years of excellence in the art of champagne making, the Maison has long been part of motorsport's most unforgettable celebrations - moments of triumph, unity, and pure emotion.
Since 1950, Moët & Chandon was a part of the celebrations of legendary champions such as Sir Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna, Nikki Lauda, Alain Prost, Mika Häkkinen, and Michael Schumacher.
Each pop of the cork, each spray of Champagne, has symbolized the culmination of relentless dedication and collective passion.
Now, as Formula 1 embarks on this milestone anniversary, Moët & Chandon proudly returns to the podium, ready to create new moments of shared joy and celebration.
The podium celebrations will once again come alive with Moët & Chandon as the top three drivers and the winning Constructor toast their success on the podium.
The Maison will also take center stage as the Title Partner at the FORMULA 1 MOËT & CHANDON BELGIAN GRAND PRIX 2025, a race that holds special significance for the Champagne house.
A Special Bond with Spa-Francorchamps
The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps is more than just a race - it is a cherished event, deeply rooted in the history of Formula 1 and Moët & Chandon.
Nestled in the heart of the Ardennes, Spa is the closest Grand Prix to the terroir in the Champagne region, making it a natural homecoming for the Maison.
Known for its legendary corners, unpredictability, and breathtaking scenery, Spa is one of the most admired circuits by Formula 1 drivers and fans alike.
Spa-Francorchamps was also part of the very first FIA Formula 1 World Championship™ calendar in 1950, a race won by the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio on June 18 of that year.
Just two weeks later, Fangio triumphed again at the French Grand Prix, held on the Reims-Gueux circuit in Champagne - a historic race, attended by two passionate local racing enthusiasts, Paul Chandon-Moët and his cousin, Count Frédéric Chandon de Briailles.
After the race, in a symbolic moment of shared celebration, they welcomed Fangio to the Château de Saran on the Moët & Chandon estate for a private toast in honor of his victory.
This profound connection between Moët & Chandon and Formula 1 is a testament to the Maison’s lasting bond with the sport - rooted in passion, excellence, and the joy of shared triumphs.
A legacy to celebrate the Collective Emotion
Moët & Chandon’s history with motorsport goes back even further, to 1936, when Tazio Nuvolari, after winning The Vanderbilt Cup, sipped Champagne from a Jeroboam of Moët & Chandon.
However, it was in 1967, that the now-iconic celebratory spray was born.
After winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Dan Gurney received a jeroboam of Moët & Chandon, and in a moment of pure elation shook it, and spontaneously sprayed the crowd, unknowingly creating a new tradition across sport.
From the legendary Golden Magnum trophy in 1977 to the jeroboams signed by racing greats between 1991 and 1997, Moët & Chandon’s legacy within Formula 1 is one of innovation, camaraderie, and shared triumph.
Honoring the Spirit of Unity
This return is more than a celebration of victories; it’s a tribute to the incredible collective spirit that fuels Formula 1 - the drivers, the teams, and the millions of passionate fans who share in every exhilarating moment.
We are proud to once again be part of this remarkable journey, raising a toast to teamwork, perseverance, and the pursuit of greatness.
As Moët & Chandon reclaims its place on the podium, the Maison looks forward to inspiring new moments of passion, bringing people together in celebration, and toasting the victories of today and tomorrow.
Sibylle Scherer, CEO and President of Moët & Chandon, said:
“We are honored and excited to return as the Official Champagne of Formula 1, celebrating a shared history of collective triumph and dedication since the 1950s. We honor the extraordinary teamwork, the unlimited precision, and the pursuit of excellence that drive both motorsport and our craft.
